Above is a recent oil painting depicting one of Newfoundland's treasures - a color filled sunset reflecting off the ocean. Sunsets are beautiful here and I love painting them, though in my own unique style. I have a tendency to overwork many of my paintings.

For this one, I set myself a time limit. I decided whatever was done in that time, stayed there - imperfections and all. This was difficult for me to do, and even more difficult to display it afterwards. I do like how it turned out - and consider it finished... but my inclination is to make everything "perfect", something which I have consciously decided to gradually depart from.
